Tre White and Izzy Whiteley have recently come into post as the new City Academy Coaches for British Cycling. Since joining, they spent the summer running fun cycling taster sessions throughout Hackney, including several on the edge of Hackney Marshes just outside KPMT’s summer pop up pavilion.

Harry Henenesy has worked in the King’s Park Ward for over seven years. He started his weight loss / healthy living journey three years ago after a visit to his doctors. Harry started feeling unwell and decided to go for a routine health check at his local surgery.

I was gaining weight after having children and all that you think is them, so I decided to do some exercise to keep fit. I wasn't sure which exercise was best for me or that I would even be interested in. I tried different types of exercise, then I joined a yoga class and I enjoyed it.
Partnership focus
KPMT has awarded funding to 14 organisations to deliver physical activities across the borough (primarily to get people moving again after lockdown); eight of these delivery partners will be rolling out their activities in or very near to King’s Park, so keep an eye out for things happening near you.
Meet James from the Pedro club
Pedro Club has been going since 1929, I started in the early ’90s. Many have come here and changed their lives around. We allow people to come in and be themselves. If they come in and do something wrong we correct them. The rules are strict, no swearing and no bullying.

I’m a 73 year old, retired nurse - I worked as a district nurse for many years. It was my first job when I came to England, I’ve also lived in Hackney for over 40 years.
Spotlight on local resident - David Jeffrey
Pre-lockdown, I was using the gym, King’s Hall, a few times a week and that was keeping things as they should be. The first few weeks of lockdown was like ‘I’m going to watch loads of telly and just eat cake’. Then I realised the area that I’m in and how blessed we are.
