This August, we're celebrating DYH’s 18th birthday with a specially curated programme of free creative workshops and courses in theatre 🎭, music 🎵, film 🎥, woodwork 🔨 and design 🎨.
Each activity is designed to help 15–26 year olds who live, work or study in Hackney take their first steps toward a career in the arts.
Whether you want to develop a play, drop a track or work on film sets - it all starts here, with DYH 2025!

Ceci n’est pas Hackney - The Exhibition
Across 18 months and 12 photo walks, more than twenty local teenagers and students have shaped and shared their perspectives on Hackney. Guided by industry professionals, they have experimented with mobile photography and self-publishing. This is their exhibition.

🎭 'Finding your Pathway’: Adventures Around the World' from Hackney Shed & Hoxton Hall
Work with professional directors, designers and musicians to create an original play which will be performed in the amazing Hoxton Hall!

🎵 Progression Sessions Presents Summer's Live 2025
Develop and record a track of your own with professional musicians, in an industry renowned studio, followed by a performance of your song with a live backing band at landmark Hackney venue EartH.

🎭 Arcola Academy Presents 'Elevate'
Spend a week at Arcola Theatre, collaborating with peers and industry professionals to develop, rehearse and perform a showcase designed to ‘elevate’ your unique abilities as a performer.

🎨 STORE Summer School
Join STORE for a 5 day summer school to design and make a series of tableware in glass, guided by designers Attua Aparicio and Jochen Holz.

🎵 Rising Music Academy from Rising Tide
Rising Music Academy is an intensive development programme for emerging musicians aged 16–25.
Starting Monday 4th August and running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout August.
