FIND YOUR CAREER IN THE ARTS

Discover Young Hackney

Bringing arts and culture to Hackney’s young people.

The initiative aims to develop the creative skills of 15-26 year-olds including those with SEND and provide routes into the cultural and creative industries. It also aims to develop creativity in young people and break down social and practical barriers in the arts.

In addition, the programme raises the profile of cultural organisations that run high-quality activities for young people in Hackney.

This year, high-quality activities led by organisations, helped develop skills for thousands of Hackney’s young people throughout August.

Open call to design Discover Young Hackney 2025 Poster

Are you a Hackney-based artist aged 18-26? Apply for the chance to design the poster for this year’s Discover Young Hackney programme.

This year, Discover Young Hackney turns 18. To celebrate this milestone, this August we will host a special programme that sees the Council collaborate with selected partners, as well as selecting a Hackney-based young person to design the poster that will advertise this programme to young people across Hackney.

This opportunity is open to anyone aged 18-26 years old and who lives or studies in Hackney. The successful artist will be paid £1000.

Application Deadline: 12pm Monday 14th April 2025.

This year’s programme featured creating theatre with professionals, designing an architecture project, and playing with avatars.

DYH is produced through a grants scheme by Hackney Council. Industry professionals led all events and activities, which were either free or low-cost.

Stay tuned for the announcement for 2025.
