Hackney’s Black History Season - programme now live!

While Hackney acknowledges Black history all year, October and November sees a dedicated programme of events that explore the Black past, present and future of life in Hackney. From film screenings, book talks, poetry readings, art and photography exhibitions, there’s something for everyone.

The programme features events funded through the Black History Season Grant scheme, as well as activities across Hackney Libraries, Hackney Museum and Hackney Archives.

The season also includes the launch of Hackney 365 at Hackney Museum, while giving people an opportunity to enjoy the new Carnival exhibition ‘Making Carnival: 50 years of Mas, Music and Movement in Hackney’.

This year sees the launch of Black History 365 - a year-round communication tool to highlight the year-round work.
