Hackney Museum school sessions - Making Carnival exhibition (for schools only)
Where: Hackney Museum
When: Term time available for Hackney primary schools
Hackney Museum is preparing for our autumn learning programme for local primary schools inspired by our upcoming temporary exhibition Making Carnival: 50 Years of Mas, Music and Movement in Hackney. We are working with a local carnival group, Tropical Isles, to create and deliver the interactive sessions. Hackney teachers have fed into shaping the sessions through our teachers' forum earlier this year. Teachers told us they would like their pupils to feel a sense of freedom and positivity through exploring the key elements of carnival - mas, music and dance.
Across September to November, Tropical Isles will deliver over 90 sessions at Hackney Museum for local primary school classes. The sessions are fully booked with 22 different schools due to attend.
