Reparation is the story of Hungarian emigree Aranca who is determined to get compensation for what was done to her and her family during the war. Seen through the eyes of her daughter, it considers themes of justice and inter-generational trauma that are as relevant and powerful today as ever.

About Gaby Koppel
After a career as a print journalist and television producer, Gaby Koppel's debut novel Reparation won the Christopher Little Literary Agency Prize, was long-listed for the Bath Novel Award and runner-up for the Paul Torday Prize. It has been on the modern Jewish literature syllabus at the cultural centre JW3 and the London School for Jewish Studies.

Born in Cardiff to refugees from Eastern Europe, Gaby lives in Stamford Hill, North London, where she continues to work in television and journalism, and is working on a second novel inspired as before by her family history.

About Ruth Angel

Ruth has worked for Hackney Council for 7 years as a Project Manager. She is one of a small number of staff employed by Hackney who identify as Jewish. Ruth volunteered during the pandemic to manage the delivery of kosher food parcels to those in Hackney's Charedi community who were clinically vulnerable. Ruth is involved in the development of the Council's Anti-Racism Strategy and is keen to ensure that the specific issues of Hackney's unique Jewish communities are understood.
